Some wedding days feel loud and fast-paced. Others feel slow, thoughtful, and deeply personal. Samantha and Jake’s Kimpton Santo wedding in San Antonio was exactly that, calm, meaningful, and centered on what mattered most to them.

The morning began with a gentle, steady pace. While Jake started his day with a workout at the gym, Samantha stayed back at their Kimpton Santo suite, getting glammed and soaking in a quiet, meaningful morning with her family.

They booked a suite at the hotel, which served as the perfect space for their Kimpton Santo wedding preparations. What made this part of the day unique was their desire for a first look, even though they were actually getting ready in the same room.

Thankfully, the layout had a divider separating the bedroom from the living area. Once Jake was dressed, Samantha turned toward the corner while Jake was guided into the living room, keeping his eyes shielded so he wouldn’t catch a glimpse too early. There was so much quiet laughter and trust in that moment.

Their first look was intimate and full of emotion, one of those moments where the world briefly pauses. No audience, no pressure; just the two of them seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day.

From there, they headed to the Little Church of La Villita, one of San Antonio’s most charming and historic wedding venues. The church’s simple beauty paired perfectly with the tone of their day. Nothing felt overdone, everything felt purposeful.

Jake and Samantha’s wedding wasn’t about a big show. It was about connection, commitment, and the life they’ve built together through distance, career demands, and big changes.
As a San Antonio wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to days like this, where the focus isn’t on rigid timelines or traditions, but on being present. Samantha and Jake created a celebration that truly reflected who they are: thoughtful, calm, and deeply connected.

Their day was a reminder that an intimate wedding doesn’t mean less, it often means more. If you’re planning a celebration that values meaning over perfection, I would love to help you document it.
