Some weddings wrap up neatly, like a chapter you close with a satisfied breath. But then there are days like Myranda and John’s Kendall Point Wedding in Boerne Texas, the kind that stays with you long after the gear is packed away. Their winter celebration was quiet and loud in all the right places, full of genuine laughter and raw emotion that doesn’t need a caption to explain itself.

Kendall Point sits in the Texas Hill Country just outside of San Antonio. The rolling landscape, open sky, and cedar and stone all hold ceremony well. It was the right backdrop for a couple like Myranda and John.

The morning started the way most wedding mornings do, a blur of curling irons, and laughter. As always, the team at JAX Studio made Myranda look effortlessly herself, which is honestly the best kind of bridal beauty. There was a loose, easy energy in the room that I love to photograph.

And then everything got very quiet.

Myranda’s mom handed her a letter. Handwritten, on paper that had clearly been held and folded more than once. Her dad had written it for her wedding day before he passed away. She was reading it for the first time.
I kept my distance and let the moment breathe. Some things a camera can document but never fully contain, and this was one of them. Without being asked, the women around her moved closer. That’s the thing about grief woven into a joyful day. It doesn’t dampen anything. Instead, it just makes the love more visible.

Myranda carried that letter with her the rest of the day. I think she always will.

Kendall Point sets up beautifully for ceremonies. In particular, a winter wedding there has a softness that the warmer months don’t always offer. The air was cool, the light was gentle, and Terra Vista Strings filled the space with music that made the whole walk feel cinematic.

When Myranda appeared at the end of the aisle, John saw her before most other people did. And he cried. Not the polite, blink-it-away kind, the real kind. His shoulders came forward a little and he had to look away for just a second to collect himself. I photographed it straight on and I’m so glad I did. That image says everything about how he feels about her.

Meanwhile, Mallorie with Elite Event Planning kept the timeline and flow of the ceremony perfectly on track. As a result, I could focus entirely on the moments rather than the logistics. That kind of coordination makes a real difference in what I capture, and it showed throughout the entire day.

After the ceremony, Myranda and John slipped away with me for portraits while their guests moved into cocktail hour. The Hill Country light in winter has a quality I genuinely love. It sits lower in the sky, lingers longer, and runs warmer than you’d expect. In fact, it wraps around everything just right.

We wandered through Kendall Point’s grounds, which gave us a range of backdrops without traveling anywhere. For instance, we moved between stone walls, open fields, and shade from the trees. Myranda and John were relaxed and playful with each other, which made my job easy. They weren’t performing for the camera. Instead, they were just together, and I was just nearby.

By the time we headed back to the reception, the light had gone soft and golden. As a result, I had a full card of images I was already excited to edit.

Got it Covered handled catering and linens beautifully. Overall, the reception space looked elegant without being fussy, which suited Myranda and John perfectly. Cakes & More delivered a quiet showstopper of a cake. Meanwhile, Bartenders4you kept everyone in good spirits all evening. The floral arrangements from San Antonio Floral Designs carried the same warmth as the rest of the day, with textures that photographed beautifully in the reception light.

In addition, DJ Music Entertainment kept the dancefloor moving all night. MBP Photobooth gave guests something to laugh about between songs. The dance floor from Cru Rentals held up admirably to what was, by most accounts, a very enthusiastic crowd.

And then came the moment nobody had planned for, but everyone will remember. Myranda and her brother surprised everyone with a lip-sync battle and performance.

I won’t give too much away, the images tell a better story than I can in words. Both sides committed fully. The whole room circled around them. Meanwhile, Mark Thomas, their videographer, had his camera pointed exactly where it needed to be. It was the kind of spontaneous, purely joyful thing that happens when people feel safe and celebrated. Without a doubt, it was the most fun I had all night with my camera.

I’ve photographed weddings all over the Texas Hill Country, and Kendall Point keeps earning its place as one of my favorites. The venue offers versatility, ceremony spaces, portrait locations, and reception areas that flow into each other naturally. But more than the venue itself, it draws couples who have their priorities in the right place. Myranda and John came into their Kendall Point Boerne Wedding focused on each other and the people they love. Everything else fell into place around that.

A letter from a father who couldn’t be there in person. A groom who let himself cry. A bride who took over a dance floor with her brother and didn’t look back. That’s the day I got to document, and I’m grateful for all of it.
