Still, what stood out most was not the decor or the dancing. It was Anna and Jackson themselves.
Throughout the evening, I kept noticing them drift away from the crowd together. Just the two of them, tucked into a quiet corner, holding hands and talking. As if the noise of the celebration faded out and it was just them for a moment. I watched it happen again and again, and every time I reached for my camera.
Later, I found them tucked inside the photo booth, set up beautifully by Moments by Maddie. They were not posing for anyone. Instead, they were laughing and being completely, fully themselves. No audience, no pressure. Just two people who met in high school, still choosing each other every single day.
That photo strip is going to live on their refrigerator forever. I just know it.
